I just bought a program to convert .ses files to .sesx files, because I want to be able to open my old work. Now I cannot find the Ses2Sesx app anywhere on my PC. Who knows how to convert my files. I paid nicely for everything Audition and Ses2Sesx. I do not get it. thanks in advance

I'll leave this for SuiteSpot to sort out - he wrote it!

why does one have to pay to convert a file from an old version of Audition to a new version of Audition when we bought both the old and new versions? Can't adobe let new audition convert that file type?

I suspect that there were several reasons for this...
1. Adobe could spend about 18 months and scarce resources (and delay implementation of CS5) to build what was already in existence.
2. Ses2Sesx was originally donationware and remained so for a couple of years. Unfortunately, in most people's minds this meant free and this is the reason it is no longer donationware.
3. Adobe weren't even aware of some of the Cool Edit versions that existed prior to their purchase of CEP so there was no way they could build a complete conversion function.
There are probably other reasons but that is plenty IMO

Thanks - It would seem they could have bought what was already in existence, IMHO. A big company like Adobe I would think would have the resources for that... Anywa, thanks for the response.

Hello SuiteSpot. I take it from the discussion above that there is a program available to convert .ses files to .sesx, correct? Is that the aforementioned "Ses2Sesx?" Can you tell me your opinion of the program? Does it work well? Is it the best or only way to do it or is there another metion you'd recomment? Will it work on a Mac?

Hi again. I just did a search and I see that ses2sesx was written to work on PCs and that an emulator is needed to get it to work on a mac. That sounds worrisome. Do you know if this has really worked? I also notice that all the discussions on this topic are quite old. Do you know if this program still can work with current operating systems?

Well, it's been a long time, but I have solved this problem by installing Audition3.0 and saving all my old projects with .xml extension. Then I opened them with Audition2022
