Corrupt data1.cab file on win10 audition 1.5 install

Greetings. My audition 1.5 on windows 10 was not recognizing the CD rom to write a session. It was suggested I remove then reinstall the program. When trying to reinstall, the process is halted citing the data1.cab file is corrupt. The original CD was for cooleditpro and was badly scratched when I upgraded to Audition 1.5. So, I have the Audition 1.5 and my serial number and that's it. I live in a rural area with very marginal satellite internet service, so I rather stick with what I have instead of the cloud.

How do I fix this??

Thank you.

Tony

If you have an account registered with Adobe you might be able to upgrade to AA3. You will need a little internet download capacity to get it but it might solve your problem. see the last post here:

Is that the 'data1.cab' file for CoolEdit or for your AA 1.5 install? I can't remember whether you actually needed to have CE installed in order to do the update or just needed a serial number.

Yes, upgrading to AU3 was a success. The only conclusions I can derive from the experience is either 1. I somehow inadvertantly deleted an important data1.cab file or 2. Windows-10 updates rendered AU1.5 incompatible.

So far, all features appear operative except ...AU3 will not use the built-in laptop microphone. The microphone is working as evident on the operating system recording devices screen. Yes, I tried accessing the Edit>Audio Hardware Setup in AU3.

Any suggestions or insights?

Thank you.

As far as I am aware others have managed to have AA1.5 working with Win 10 I believe.

Which driver do you have selected in AA3's Audio hardware Set panel? Normally it would be Audition 3.0 Windows Sound if you are using the built in sound device. It should allow you to record from the built in mic if it is set as the default recording device in the Windows Sound setup page.

Yes, my AA1.5 WAS working on my Win10 machine until I tried writing a CD (Haven't needed to write a CD since before the last two Win10 updates.)

Yes, I have the Audition 3.0 Windows Sound driver selected. At least AA3.0 does access the internal audio bus.

And...I tried to install 1.5 after installing 3.0, but no dice...same data1.cab error.
