Export to CD Layout from 48k Multitrack? Add tracks to Quicktime?

Two questions. I have a 48k Multitrack file from which I want to generate a CD Layout, but it won't let me, even though the CD markers are there. I have to export to 44.1k format, then do the CD layout.

Ques 1: Is that because you can't do a CD Layout from a Multitrack recording, or because it was in 48k?

Ques 2: Can a Quicktime file (or other universal audio file) have tracks like a CD, so you can jump straight to a particular track? As well as the CD, I'd like to have just a computer file I can distribute, but tracks are important.

Q1: Because it's 48k. You can only create CDs at 44.1k - that's enshrined in the standard - 16-bit 44.1k stereo files.

Q2: Not directly, no. There is a rumour that you can do this with AAC, but I have no experience of that. MP3 and Wav files won't do this, but the AAX format does. The best thing to do is to google Audio Book Formats - you'll find that there is quite a lot to this, and it's a bit of a minefield. Your biggest problem is finding a format that enough people will have access to wit
