External device does not appear in Audio Hardware settings

I have an Alesis V49 that is supposed to be supported by any software. It works on Garageband so I assume it should work on Audition. When I go into the audio hardware settings to select an external input device, this keyboard does not appear even though all of my other USB input devices do. Therefore, when I try to record with this device, nothing comes through (even when I click on monitor input to double check). Anyone know how I can fix this?

Reading such on-line information about the V49 as I could quickly find, it appears this is a MIDI controller keyboard, not an "audio device" in the conventional sense.

IOW, the keyboard does NOT create "sounds" but rather MIDI data which your host DAW, in this case Audition, is "expected" to turn into audio.  But, Audition has no MIDI capability; hence it will not/cannot work with your keyboard, sorry.
