extracting audio from mp4

Explorer ,
Jan 31, 2020 Jan 31, 2020

Hi, I had to leave my old computer and bought me a brand new one. On my old desktop I work with Audition 1.5 for many many years now! It's again working on my new computer too, but for one exception.I can't extract audio from an MP4 anymore. I've tried several plugins like neromp4, id3lib, cool_faac, msvcr71. None is working or I'm doing it wrong....

Can any one help me to get this extraction working again?

Question 1: How did you get Audition 1.5 running on your new computer (this may be relevant)?

Hi Steve,

Since copying from my old to my new computer didn’t work I downloaded it again  from the internet. Works fine without limitations but just without that extracting possibilitiy

I'm afraid that all of those downloads of 1.5 are essentially illegal, despite any claims to the contrary. Not only that, but the act of an individual breaking the security of it is likely to cause several problems further down the line as well - Adobe built traps into it.

I will PM you with an alternative suggestion.

OK. I expectred that. But I work with Audition for about 15 years and only due buying a new computer I'm condemned being out of business. I have nothing left from that first original installation. It still works fine in WIN10 only for that dll or plugin....

I understand that you are standing empty handed, but there must be something to continue...?

Can you PM me the procedure as well, please? I have 3.0 I purchased that is no longer working. I took time away from my craft to care for an ailing parent and, when I returned I discovered I was no longer able to use the software I purchased.

I'm afraid not.. I have always worked worked with 1.5. I'm so sorry I can't help you. I also have 3.0 but I never tried or worked with it.

After reinstalling my 1.5 version I noticed that in Fle (the first tab) extractiong audio from an mp4 was no longer available. Instead of this I saw a new option: IMPORT. When I tried tthat option it lead me to the same procedure but in a slightly different way:

If you hit IMPORT you have to find an mp4. and open it. You are immediately led to the second tab EDIT and there you see your imported mp4. Then I go back to the first tab and there I see the audio in frequencies. So solved for me!

Have you tried to recapture your activation or serial number? Or look in the Adobe CS2  family for Audition 3.0. It's free and released by Adobe. You get a license key as well! The package is about 4.6 Gb! Good luck!

Just figured it out on Adobe Audition 1.5. To open mp4 files...use Open Audio From Video under "files". Works great!

This not the issue! I just need to record audio. We have tried everything but the audio of an mp3 will not show in Audition 1.5.  That's all.

Importing an mp3 or extracting the audio of an mp4 is no big deal! This works fine! But despite showing that audio in the toolbar at the bottom, there is never a sound. Audio is in now way coming in in Audition 1.5 for recording.

Is it caused  by an upgrade of Win 10? (Win 7 as a try failed also), is it the microphone driver or another driver? Is it a specific missing link in the soundcard? (allthough mp3 and mp4 sound coming out great through of the speakers). We tried a trial of Audition 4: no results! Using different desktops with the .exe file for the program don't help too. We are at our wits end but still we will not stop trying..... ANYONE?

So you're saying that it won't record anything at all? You can't record MP3 directly anyway - never have been able to. You record a Wav file, and then save it as - whatever format you want it in. There's no inherent reason that you wouldn't be able to record - it's just a matter of setting up your sound device correctly, and configuring Audition to use it.
