Feature request: switch panel shortcut

Contributor ,

I noticed a potentially useful shortcut in Premiere Pro that I thought would be very useful in Audition: a keyboard shortcut to switch panels within the program (ie: Multitrack Mode--switch from "Selection/View" panel back to "Editor" panel). In Premiere Pro you can do this by hitting CTRL+SHIFT+PERIOD or COMMA, but there doesn't seem to be a corresponding shortcut in Audition. If this already exists please let me know, my apologies if this subject has already been covered.

The first three entries under the View menu.  I assume this is what you mean?

No it isn't. I'm talking about the Blue rectangle which is around whatever panel is selected:

Again, if you have Premiere Pro start it, open a project, then hit CTRL+SHIFT+PERIOD or COMMA and watch the panel selection (or focus) switch clockwise or counter-clockwise. This is what Audition should have as well.

I see the blue rectangle you picture but I don't have Premiere Pro so can't see what you see, sorry.

However, is the simple pressing of the shortcut keys shown in my screenshot, the 8, 9 and 0, not even "easier" than clicking on that rectangle?

You're simply misunderstanding the issue. Hitting "0" "9" or "8" simply switches modes in the Editor panel. I'm talking about switching between the panels, like from the Editor panel to the Mixer panel, Files, Selection/View, etc. Goto "Window" (right next to "View") to see a list of the different panels.

A lot of those already have keyboard shortcuts. And those that don't by default can have them added in the Edit/Keyboard Shortcuts screen.

That opens and closes the panels, it does not switch between panels that are already open. I've tried to demonstrate what I'm talking about in Premiere Pro (similar UI) below:

You should be able to see the blue rectangle switching from panel to panel.

Yes I see what you mean. However you are referring to panels that are already open and showing on the screen. Similarly in Audition the shortcuts that open the views when they are closed also act to bring already open panels into focus in the same way that clicking on them with the mouse does. So I am not sure what more you are requesting as a new feature?

Remember that you can already undock any of the panels that you want and place them anywhere in your screen layout. So it really depends on what panels you have open and how you have laid them out on your Workspace. If you really want you can move all panels onto separate tabs in the main, normally Edit, part of the display. Try loading some of the alternative Workspaces to see how different layouts work.
