Any ideas how to start? Ought I to download a new driver?Or is the Windows 10 driver ok for it?
I have tried all kinds of settings but can't seem to get mic inputs to show levels or a waveform.
Thanks in advance,
David

In Audition's Audio Hardware Setup page what options do you see in the drop down list for Audio Driver in either the Edit view or Multitrack view pages? Do you see any for M-Audio?

Thank you for the reply. I have gotten bogged down in another thing as well, but I truly want to solve this one so I will do as you suggest and report back, perhaps with screen shots as I see others do.

I have used Audition 1.5 for many years but it will not run on this W10 machine, so Adobe upgraded me to 3.0. I typically work in multi-track view for tracking, recording individual tracks in mono.
I have that settings screen up. I have available either "Audition 3.0 Windows Sound" or "M-Track Quad ASIO Driver". When I select the latter, the input and output ports only display "analog inputs". Should I be able to list M-Audio choices? Also, what about the checkbox "Release ASIO Driver in Background" - how should I set that?
Thanks,
David

I would have thought that the 'analog inputs' are actually the M-Audio inputs. You should see four of them and be able to select any of the four for input. Similarly with the outputs.
Keep the "Release ASIO Driver in Background" box unticked otherwise other programmes can steal your audio inputs from Audition if you switch away to another Windows screen.

First off - if I could have any guitar I wanted right now, it would be a
0018GE - or a vintage 0018.
OK. Thanks for clarifying "release driver" - makes perfect sense.
As to I/O's - if I select those analog choices, I get no audition input to
Audition - the M-Audio unit is connected properly, phantom power is on, I
have a condenser mic plugged in and get LED response to sounds.
However, if I switch back to the default drive, the Win 10 driver, the
I/O's show up as
"[01M] (M-Track Plus) - 1 and "[01M] (M-Track Plus) - 2.
However in those settings, still no levels are displayed.
I did download another driver from M-Audio, with no change.

With the M-Audio ASIO selected in Audition's Audio Hardware Setup/Multitrack page what do you see listed in the for default inputs on that page?
Can you hear any audio file loaded into Audition playing back OK via the M-Audio interface? And do any media files played back from Windows via Media Player etc. come out of the M-Audio interface?

Only the analog 1 and 2 show up in both input and output boxes.

I have not solved this issue yet.
Anyone else have any ideas?
