Help! Somehow a soundbite is repeating over the recorded audio

I'm a novice, and only use Audition to edit podcast audio, but when I opened this file for the second time, this happened. There's this random audio clip that repeats over the ENTIRE 40+ mins of the recording. What's repeating is in the red and the actual audio is visible in the green and they clearly dont match. Like I said I'm super inexperienced with the program but hope I explained this well enough. This also now happens when I play the mp3 outside Audition. My producer has the original but wont be able to get it to me for a week. Any advice is welcome, thanks!

Can't tell by looking at it. How was the edit done? The only way I can think of that this might happen involves a Multitrack edit with an extra track that's been looped accidentally added in with it. Do you recognise what's in the repeating clip?

I think I opened this session but was unable to actually start editing, a few days lapsed between then and now. I dont recognize it and but I'm not sure where from, could be from the same recording or another one... hard to tell as its a podcast so its just a random snip of a conversation. Is there a way to look at history or something to see if a loop was added? That sounds like it could be that. Or its possible it actually happened in the recording process... I attached a video I hope it helps! video link here

Still makes no sense at all - can you show us a complete view of the session it came from?

Hey Steve, so last time this happened I was able to recover the original file so I didnt need to resolve the problem, however it has happened AGAIN to a file that has a tremendous amount of work put into it and starting over sounds miserable... not to mention I'm really frusturated and need to figure out whats going on and why this keeps happening. What do you need me to send to you so you can get a better idea of what I'm dealing with?

I'm having the same issue 5 years later. Were you ever able to fix this? I've searched far and wide, but this specific community message is the only place I've found anywhere online that acurately describes the issue I'm having.

Echoing Steve's five year old request, can we see a view of the complete session?

From other bits of similar strangeness, I've suspected for a while that the root cause of this is session file corruption. Just uploading the text of the session file would let our resident ses file expert (Suite Spot) give you a much better idea of what might be happening.
