How Do I "Scrub" Through Audio In Audition?

How can I advance through audio slowly when I am very zoomed in? I need to find transient noises like mouth clicks that are only milliseconds long, but when I am that zoomed in, I can't figure out how to move my view left and right.

The little handle in the timeline at the top works fine when I am NOT zoomed in, because it is large enough to grab with my mouse. But when I am that zoomed in, the handle in the timeline becomes so small that I cannot make fine movements.

In Audition 3.0, I could just drag the bottom of the main audio edit screen. So this is another growing pain from moving to CC.

Maybe this picture will make it more clear

Adobe Audition zoom can

Thoughts? Thanks!

Ken

You have two options. The first is to place your mouse pointer on the timescale below the timeline, and drag that. Alternatively, use Ctrl + < or > to shift the display. At those sorts of zoom levels the zoom handles on the timeline are effectively useless, as the handles disappear. In fact, using the mouse scroll wheel on the timescale is the only easy way to get the display down to sample level.

Thanks Steve,

I tried dragging the timescale underneath, which worked great in 3.0, but does nothing in CC. Here is a video of me trying - 2018-12-20_1601 assuming I'm doing the right thing.

Ctrl + < or > does work. Thanks for that! I wish I had more control over how fast I could move left or right. But I guess this will do.

Is it me? Or did things get much more difficult from 3.0 to CC?

No, no, no. In your video you appear to trying to drag the scale on the level meters! Going back to your original image click and drag the little blue icon at the top of the Playhead line that sits on the actual Timeline just under and to the left of your arrowed red box.

Ah OK thanks. It was the "timescale below the timeline" that threw me. And because that is exactly what I could do in 3.0.

Very amusing - that's the level indicator in dB you're trying to drag!  I said the timescale below the timeline - exactly where the head of the arrow is in this screen-grab. You'll know when it's exactly in the correct place because the cursor will suddenly turn into a little hand.

It's you!

Thanks Steve!!!! That is EXACTLY what I wanted. Whew! Knowledge - or lack of it - is a powerful thing.
