How to remove echo while recording?

New Here ,
Mar 20, 2018 Mar 20, 2018

Hey fellow Audition users,

I've been using the program for an eternity and only just started having this issue. Two or so updates ago, when I hit the record button to start to sing it automatically applies this echo to my vocals while I'm singing. It doesn't appear in the recording, only in my headphones while singing. It's SUPER annoying because it's alot of echo so it causes me to hear my vocals in a more delayed state.

I used to be able to record 100% dry which is what I prefer. Any ideas on how to adjust the recording settings so that I hear my voice dry as I sing?

Thanks a bunch!

Exactly which version are you using? If you haven't updated relatively recently, and are on version 11.0.0.199, then the monitoring default got altered to 'on', and that gives results pretty much as you describe - there's an FAQ about it here: I'm getting strange feedback and monitoring issues with the Audition 2018 release - can I fix this?

If that's the build you're using, then switching off the smart monitoring is part of the solution, the other part being downloading the most recent build, which has the monitoring off again, by default (and a number of other bug fixes).

Can I suggest that you read the FAQ I linked to above? It has explicit instructions for switching it off.
