I am doing an urgent radio piece for BBC news. There is a fault with the hardware audio settings on my Adobe Audition 2018 latest release so it cannot play any audio. I need to sort this out and also to learn how to cross fade clips in and out and equalise levels of different clips. The news piece is for tomorrow so I need the session today. Can you contact me if you are able to access Team Viewer and do a remote session on my laptop. [email address removed by forum moderator]

May we ask what the audio hardware problem turned out to be?
By the time she got to me, she'd sorted that one out - merely Windows being 'helpful' I think. But when you consider where she'd started from with this whole process (and she got somewhat dropped in it by the Beeb) she'd done pretty well - up to a point. Although without going into any detail, my initial response to this (above) was not exactly wide of the mark...
But she's determined - she will get there.

You are seriously expecting to get Audition up and running, and with no real experience of it at all produce a package for broadcast tomorrow, meeting the Beeb's technical standards?
I'm sorry, but this sounds like a bit of a tall order - even more so at the weekend... where are you based?

We would need a lot more info about your set up in order to be able to give any advice unfortunately. What type of computer, mac or PC with which operating system? What audio hardware and drivers are you trying to use?

I have experience of Audition I have edited all the clips already in Audition and am just going to record the script now. I know how to place all the clips in the multitrack window what I need is help with equalising levels of audio and cross fading the clips and script. Can you do a remote session to do this. I am based in London UK.

I am next to Kensal Green train station but can travel to South West. Where are you in South West? Are you free first thing tomorrow morning everything is in the multitrack window and I think the levels are OK actually but I need to learn how to equalise levels and cross fade clips. I would need to bring my computer to you so the material is on my computer. I've done lots of pieces for this programme on Radio 4 before.

I will say one other thing though - she's not exactly happy with Adobe's 'helpline' - that's an hour and a half of her life she won't get back, and it got her nowhere.

Well, do any of us really expect Adobe Helplines to be helpful with Audition? Not me. I'm not an expert (yet) but my experience is it's a waste of time. It's not like Audition is in the top 10 of their products to support. We of course wish they would direct us to product experts, but then we also have to admit they do a pretty good job with user docs and training materials. And this forum (thanks to a few stars, Steve & Ry to name 2) is a better resource than the help lines. I'd suggest Adobe pay some of the folks here for all the help they offer.

table of contents suggests this is NOT a question aobut Adobe Audition, which is what this forum is concerned with.
Exactly which Adobe product are you asking for help with?
