Many times it feels like the older versions of Adobe Audition are more intuitive and easier to work with than the most recent version. I added screenshots comparing the windows of the two different versions. I highlighted in red what specifically I'm talking about. The name of the file is no longer first as in previous versions of Adobe Audition and now the duration is first. I find it very annoying. I sometimes have multitracks that have hundreds of different sounds. I need tons of sounds because I experiment with a lot of sounds. Whenever I upload a few new sounds I often will have to scroll searching for these new sounds. I would prefer to have it where the new sounds show ready to use so I can put them on the multitrack rather than having to search hundreds of files for them. Below you can see the differences between the two versions of Audition. I think the files should have the name first as you can see in Audition 3.
I'm not sure why your Files panel doesn't show the Name column first like mine below, but it's an easy fix.
P.S. I agree with your overall sentiment that maybe, just maybe, Audition loses something with newer versions. Of course, on the other hand, each new "version" of Audition doesn't act
