Please help! When mapping inputs for my interface, I only see the option for 2 inputs, when there are 4 available on the interface....two mono instrument, and two line inputs. BUT no matter what inputs I select I cannot get any audio to come out in my session. Anyone else have this difficulty? What am I missing.

Assuming you've installed the Focusrite Control application and this is a PC (you haven't said...), you need to switch Audition's Drive Class setting to ASIO. If you don't do this you will only ever see a stereo output from the 4i4. ASIO lets you see each individual input. You also need to select the 4i4 as the destination for the audio output, I expect - then your session audio will be available; both inputs and outputs have to be specified. So to make sure you hear your session, check that the mix output is going to the right place.

Hi Steve, I am on Mac. When I go into Audition I don't have the option to select ASIO  from the dropdown menu in the Audio Hardware preferences panel. The only selection is Core Audio. I did select the 4i4 for my output destination. I just see no way to add two more inputs anywhere. Thanks for your help!

It's set up correctly using core audio - you only get ASIO if it's a PC - as in my assumption. The extra inputs will only be visible in the track controls, and that's where you have to select them:

That's my MixPre, but exactly the same thing should happen with your 4i4 - all four should be available there as mono inputs...

Yes, I noticed that I could select the other inputs there, but I still get no sound. I know the 4i4 is working cause i can tap in front of my microphone and i see it's taking the input as the gain lights up....but no audio comes out my speakers.

The sound appears to be being sent directly to the 4i4 outputs 1 and 2. Where were you expecting to hear it from? You won't actually hear anything from tapping a mic, as by default direct monitoring through Audition is switched off - for two good reasons: firstly there's latency, and secondly you are likely to end up with digital howl-round - which is perfectly capable of destroying speakers...

Audition always records what it's been sent, so nobody worries about monitoring from that POV - you always get a visual representation, and as long as that isn't overloading (which will be obvious) you'll end up with a perfectly fine recording.

I tried recording, and no waveform appears. No levels readings show up while recording. I have input 2 mono selected where the mic is and "mix" for output selected.

To record, you have to make sure that there's a valid input assigned to a track, and then enable the track for recording using the red R button. Then hit Record on the transport controls. Anything missing from this, and it won't record!

Does the transport (cursor) move when you hit record? If it does, then the only other thing I'm aware of that could stop this working is the Mac security system - you may have to enable the connection in that.
