No Pan control in MultiTrack session

Pan L and R control is nowhere to be found.  I have Adobe Audition CC 2018.  I have looked everywhere I can think of, have watched every video I can find, read ever forum - nothing anyone has said or done has worked.   If you flip the screen to Mixer, the pan icon shows up on the left column, half way down, not on the tracks, but it seems to have no function anyway.  CAN SOMEONE PLEASE SHOW ME HOW TO GET THE PAN FUNCTION TO EVEN SHOW UP????

Hmm... this appears to be a mono session. You only get pan controls with a stereo or multi-channel session...
