Problems connecting Zoom audio interface + mic to Audition and Premiere - won't recognise and record

I am trying to use my Zoom H4N, with condenser mic plugged in with phantom power, as an audio interface to record with Adobe Audition or Premiere. I have tried everything to get it to work, the computer recognises the interface, H4N shows up in the sound settings and I have selected it as an input. I try recording with either programme and nothing shows up in the monitor and no sound is recorded on the timeline at all. Have tried every setting to get it to work. It works with Audacity and with Zoom (the video meeting software) but not with Adobe software. I am using a Mac with Ventura 13.3.1. Has anyone else had this problem and knows a solution? Want to record voiceover easily in the programme so it all ties together.

No real idea, but to try and narrow thing down:

Does it work if you unplug the condenser, and use the built in mics?

Does other equipment work, for example, your Mac's built in mic?

On a PC, the H4N here works fine with an external mic as a source for Audition. But you do need to have the sample rates for the H4N and the session compatible (ie, the same), and the mic you want to use enabled on the H4N - then it works. Other than that, in Audition you have to have Record enabled on your track, and the correct input from the mic selected. If you've done all of that and it still doesn't work, we'll have to look elsewhere for a solution...
