Recording multiple tracks with Soundcraft Signature MTK 12

Hi everyone,

I am in the process of starting a podcast, and purchased a Soundcraft Signature MTK 12 to use with Audition CC2018. As a test I just want to record to 3 channels simultaneously. I have Mics plugged into 1 and 2 on the mixer, and have an iphone plugged into 3 which i want to record as well. I have the first three tracks of the multitrack interface set up  the first three channels of the mixer. I have armed them, but only tracks 1 and 2 will record. Additionally, if I move one of the mics to channel 3 on the mixer it will no longer record, even in track three of the multitrack interface, which has its input set to channel three of the mixer. How can i use more of the channels to record than just 1 and 2? I have set the audio input to ASIO and have access to all 14 input channels, but only the first 2 will record.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

So in any of the Multitrack view Track headers you can select any of the mixer's twelve input channels and main stereo out as inputs from the drop down menu? When the channel fader of channel 3 on the mixer is faded up can you see it's output on the main meters on the mixer to prove that the signal is getting into the mixer and hear it on headphones plugged into the MTK 12's headphone socket?

hi ryclark! I have added the channels in the multitrack view, and the main meters do work, but what i discovered was there was a seperate dropdown menu for stero, and for some reason all 4 channels i tried work fine with stereo, but only 2 work with mono. not sure why that happened, but i've swtiched everything to stereo and the problem is gone.

thanks for the help!

I'm trying to use a mixer to edit several sound tracks in Premiere Pro or in AUdition

So far I was unable to find a reasonably priced USB mixer which would do the job for me.

I am a Mac User (SIERRA and Premiere version 12.1.1)

I don 't n eed to record anything, but I am not comfortable using the mouse or keyboard, I would only need a mixer which talks to Premiere and allows to move the the sliders, select SOLO and MUTE

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your time and patience

You don't necessarily need a USB mixer to do that rather a fader control unit with MIDI output. Something like a Korg nanoKontrol might do.

Thank you.

I never used a surface controller before is the nonoKONTROL2 easy to connect to Premiere and Audition?

Or I need to find some other software to connect the hardware to my computer?

Such as the BOME MIDI TRANSLATOR?

Do I need to set up the buttons after I connect the nonoKONTROL2 via USB to the MAC or I will simply find the mixer in Premiere settings as INPUT and OURTPUT?

Thanks for your kind reply and time

Do I need to set up the buttons after I connect the nonoKONTROL2 via USB to the MAC or I will simply...

There are no inputs or outputs with this controller. That's all it is, it isn't an audio device at all. You use your normal audio interface for audio input and output. It just provides the hardware faders and buttons to operate the mixer automation in Audition.

I don't know about Premiere but Audition should see it as a MIDI controller once it is plugged into the computer. It can work as a standard Mackie Control Protocol controller which will provide standard faders, mute, solo and transport control by default when you set up Audition's Control Surface preferences to Mackie mode. No other software required but Korg do provide an editor app to customise the button functions if not using the Mackie Emulation. Further info here, CC should be the same if not better now:
