Recording trouble in AA 2021

Recording in Adobe Audition 2021, default settings are in place and I still can't record. If I press the red record button, nothing happens. Doesn't begin recording. Help!

To enable recording in Multitrack view, you have to do the following: On the track you want to record on, select a suitable input:

Then record-enable the track:

And recording will start when you hit the transport Record button. If you leave out any of these steps, it simply won't work!
