renaming hundreds of markers at once

I'm recording an eLearning course that's a couple of hours long but will be broken down into hundreds of much shorter files. If I put markers in at the split points for later export from the main audio file, is there an easy way to rename all these markers to the file names that my client wants? I have these file names in a column on a spreadsheet, and I'm hoping there's a way to copy them from the spreadsheet and paste them into the marker names in Audition (one cell from the spreasheet = one marker in Audition) without having to do it one at a time.

I'm also open to other ways of getting the job done, if anyone knows of any.

Thanks,

Brian

You can go File > Export > Selected Markers to CSV and get a list of markers in a file. Beware that it is actually a Tab delimited file, so you will need to open excel, and open the file from in there for excel to break the data apart into cells.  You should get a dialogue box open in excel, make sure to select delimited file, and the check box next to Tab should be selected.

You can then rename the Markers from the other spreadsheet by copying & pasting.

Then, to get the markers back in, you ca

Have a look at CueListTool - can't guarantee that on its own it will do what you want, but it does have a lot of options (and it's free...).

Thanks for the tip Steve - I took your advice and tried CueListTool, but it looks like you can only edit one marker at a time there too. Maybe I should request it as a feature?

Then, to get the markers back in, you can do the opposite with the edited file... File > Import > Markers from File. I tested the export for this post, but havent tested the re-import, I'm assuming it works, since it's in the menu, and don't recall seeing a post on here about it not working - but that could mean no one else has tried it either!  🙂
