Static and auto gain on sound

New Here ,

I have used adobe audition in my church to record preachings and whenever our ministry wants to record. If y'all can see the image I uploaded the purple static wasn't there before. It recently started showing whenever we click record. And all of the sudden whenever we created a new audio file the sound is loud. We have a behringer x32 and also a little board where the audio goes from mixer to pc. The static however still shows up even when the mixer is turned off and we just click record, so it's not the mixer but it has affected the audio.  A while back whenever we started recording it would just show the vertical line indicating the recording seconds but in dark, no purple static was detected with the spectral frequency display. Anybody else has that problem and how to fix.

When you record, what are the file and audio settings you are using?

In addition to what @SteveG_AudioMasters_  has asked...

Why are you taking an analogue output from the digital X32 into an external mixer to reconvert it to digital to record on your computer when there is a USB B output on the rear of the mixer which is digital and which could be fed to your computer for recording in Audition without any intervening D>A and A>D conversion?  I see the output from your small mixer uses a USB B socket so you already have the necessary cable.

I did notice you are using the USB socket on the front of the X32, presumably for some kind of "audio insert", but that socket can also be used to record the output of the mixer if not needed as an input.

HTH.

Hmm that's a good question our old sound guy he had that connected so that's where adobe gets the audio from. Whenever we disconnect that cable from the little mixer the audio stops

That is exactly what should happen!

What I'm suggesting is that you connect that cable directly to the USB B port  on the rear of the mixer.  You will need to check the configuration settings for that port on the X32 (I'm not in front of mine at the moment so can't give more precise details of the settings you need, sorry).

I'd also like you to answer my original question about the actual audio settings (bit rate, bit depth) you are using, because if this happens when everything else is turned off, it sounds as though these might be, shall we say, 'inappropriate'...
