Urgent! Can't import .wav

Hi,

I'n not able to import a simple .wav file in a new Audition session. Done this plenty of times before, it always worked. Now there is just a warning: "File could not be read or decoded." But as I said: It's just a .wav. I already tried to play it with VLC, it's alright, everything fine. I tried different ways, from drag&drop, to the "import"-option or the media browser. It just doesn't work.

What could be the problem?

Thanx.

Michaela

Okay, I tried all the settings. Mono with 192kbps didn't work, Stereo with 364kbps also not. Setting "Linear Mono" worked ... though the the recording is a bit muffled and the sound not too good. But all the same: Now I can import the file.

Thank you for finding the problem und helping me!!!!!

Regards, Michaela

It came from an audio recorder, a Handheld with the name "Maycom". I recorded with it many times before and it always worked with Audition. Funny thing is: Even the old recordings, which I already edited with Audition, can't be imported any more. It must have to do something with the decoding. I use a MacBook Pro (2017) and iTunes or QuickTime doesn't play the files as well. Only the VLC Player does.

I got around the problem for now by converting all the wav in mp3. But as a very good quality is required, this can not be the final solution.

Maybe I got something wrong with the User profile of the Handheld, the mono/stereo or the kbps?

I was wondering if this might be the case - similar things have been reported before with wav files from some portable recorders, and it's all to do with the metadata, IIRC. I think that the first thing to do is to try all the different settings you can, to see if any of them work. Also, if you can create a short wav file that won't open, and post it here (you'd need to use something like a Dropbox public link) then perhaps we can find out specifically what's happened...

I fixed this issue simply by uninstalling and reinstalling Audition from the CC desktop app. I had to do this also with photoshop because I was having import issues.
