URGENT Export Error and No 5.1

Hi,

Deadline looming and Audition is not allowing an export to 5.1 format no matter which options I try, though it was working just a few days ago. I'm on an iMac 2015, 32GB Ram, High Sierra and Audition 13 (not latest OS or Audition updates, I don't want to change in the middle of the project if possible).

I have a project set up with 5 tracks and have mixed them all to 5.1. I want to get them back to Premiere Pro but when I use the Export to Premiere option, I get 6 tracks, all in stereo, not a 5.1 track.

When I try to export with .aac (to import later into Premiere) I get a '!dat' error and a message telling me my destination may not have enough space. It has plenty of space.

Also, the export gets to 99% and hangs for a long time (like 10 minutes) although it says 0% remaining. The file seems complete, but opening it shows half of it not there.

Finally, the frame rate suddenly changed from 24fps to 29.97fps without my doing anything and now it doesn't sync well with my video.

Not sure what's going on. I tried reopening the project and rebooting the computer. Nada.

It's an 80 minute mix for a film but length shouldn't matter should it?

Ok, I managed to export a 5.1 direct to Premiere after deleting the Audition Preference folder: Menu>Go>(alt key shows Library>Preferences, but the channels were oddly mixed so Centre and LFE was coming out of Surrounds. Fixed that in Premiere when I noticed the Master Clock was not set to HDMI in Preferences>Audio Hardware. (my monitoring system goes to an HDMI amp, then Pre-Out to Active Monitors). But I'm still noticing the sync has gone out between Audition and Premiere. Both projects/Sequences are 24fps. The sync slides out of sync from 7 frames at the halfway mark (40 minutes in) to about 11 frames at 75 minutes in. So looking for any help with sync problems, please. Thanks!

By the way, does the Menu: View>Time Display>(various options) act in any destructive way to the project? I think it may have been changed from 'Decimal' to '24fps'. I notice the total length of the timeline changes with different 'Views', which makes sense, but does this actually change the project?

The FPS settings are stored in the session file, but they shouldn't make any material difference to the audio - they are just scaling marks. The usual reason for sync slippage is wild audio - so any audio that's recorded but where the machine doing it is not linked directly to the video clock and locked to it. Even with timecode this can slip - the clocks really do have to be locked. The tolerance in the clock spec could easily give this sort of error otherwise. If all the audio has come from the camera though, then the only thing I can think of that might cause this is a transcoding error - but that seems rather unlikely on the face of it...

Thanks Steve! I suspect that the clocks have something to do with this. Fortunately it's only 12 frames over 80 minutes. I can tweak it to line up again but was wondering what happened.

Transcoding from the sound recordist files was all good and everything was in sync until very recently when I tried to do some 5.1 exports. It could be that they added the 12 mystery frames somehow.

If you could tell me what a '!dat' error is, and how to fix it, that would help me to make a .aac export of 5.1. It presently gives that error every time, no matter how I reboot or trash preferences.
