Adding External Editors

Given the "Open With>" dropdown in Bridge, one would assume it is possible to add external editors beyond the default Photoshop. But I don't find any means to do so. Is it possible, and, if so, how is it done?

Depending on the extension (jpg, dng, psd) of the file in Bridge you choose, suitable image editing (or viewing) apps on your disk should automatically display.  If not, you may try resetting Bridge Preferences.

You can change the default in Preferences. Bridge doesn't (at least on Windows 10) use the list of system apps. And oddly, in Windows Settings, neither Photoshop nor IrfanView can be set as the default to open JPEG files.

I tried editing the actual list of openers and apparently (for JPEG files) only one choice beyond Photoshop will be displayed.
