Adobe bridge 2023 crashes on startup

Basically, no matter what I do, not matter what solution I try to follow, Adobe Bridge 2023 crashes immediately after starting up. I don't get to click anything, I don't get to press any buttons or shortcuts, it just loads the UI and crashes after about a second. I'd love some help since I kind of rely on Adobe Bridge for my photography.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us. To better investigate the issue, could you  please share  the following information:

1. Bridge version

2. System details

3. Did you submit the crash dump/log and if yes, with which email id so we can get the details or you can share the crash log/dump with sharewithbr@adobe.com

4. Please clean the preferences, plist/registry entries, and try again. If you are using a mac, after deleting plist entry you have to kill cfprefsd  from activity monitor to refresh the  entries

We have also released a new Beta version with critical functional and stability bug fixes. Could you please try the latest beta version and confirm if that resolves the issue for you?

Thanks for the response!

I'll send the details to the email, but for now:

1. Bridge 2023
2. i3-12100F running the latest windows insider beta build, GTX 1060 3GB, 256gb NVMe and a 1TB HDD.

3. Sending right now

4. Not sure how to do that

Also, unfortunately, beta version doesn't seem to help.

Hi Linas5FC0,

My System info: desktop PC ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-F GAMING and all the drivers are up to date.
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz (16 CPUs), ~3.6GHz.
Memory: 32768MB RAM
Graphic card: Radeon RX 580 Series and is up to date.
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and is up to date!

Try this method in Adobe Bridge 13.0.3.693.
In Bridge 2023 Preferences and in the Metadata settings. Which I have unchecked all boxes that I don't need and only checked the ones that I use for my data
Also, from Preferences: Advanced:- I have set Use Software rendering on, which seems to be better for preview viewing.

Profile-1.JPGProfile-2.JPGProfile-3.JPG

Which I have found so far it working and fine and only leaving me a dump file now and then.

I also went back to Bridge 2022 V:12.0.4 with no joy.

Please let me know if this works for you.

Hello,

I fortunately no longer have the problem and I have not a clue what fixed it. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Hi Linas5FCO,

I'm envous of you good fortune 🙂

I'm also a bit fascinated that it suddently stopped crashing.  Might you be willing to share which version of Bridge 2023 you are running (the version number can be found on the menu bar under:  Help > About Bridge...).  And, can you think of ANYTHING else you might have done or changed with your system or OS that could have indadvertantly caused this change in behavior?

To anyone from Adobe who might be reading this thread:  I am getting extremely frusted and irritated by this.  I have been a devote purchaser of adobe software for 24 years now, and this is no small problem.  The only thing that has worked for me so far is to run Bridge 2022 (v12.0.4), but doing that means no automatic updates, and for whatever reason the UI graphics in that version are very clunky on a 32" 4K Asus ProArt monitor.  Between the 3 Bridge interface scaling options of Auto, 100% or 200%, and the various text size options (text size adjustments don't seem to do very much?)  you get either tiny-winy text and icons, or cartoonishly big text and icons, but nothing inbetween?  It's atrociously bad.  Shouldn't Adobe be all over this?  My system is brand new, and virtually its entire purpose is to run Adobe Software, but this extremly key application simply doe not even run.

Incidentally, if anyone has been relegated to running Bridge 2022 due to some variation of the issue in this thread (or for any other reason really), and if you are experiencing a similar UI scaling issue like I am, I just remembered - and implemented - a very simple and effective solution.

  1. With the application icon on the desktop, you just right click the icon, and choose "Properties",
  2. Then go to the "Compatibility" tab
  3. Near the bottom of this tab, click on "Change high DPI settings",
  4. Then place a check in the box under "Program DPI" and leave the associated drop-down menu on "I signed in to Windows".
  5. Next put a check in the box under "High DPI scaling override", which is at the bottom of the same panel.
  6. Then in the drop-down menu below this check box, select "System" or "System (Enhanced)", (i.e. if one doesn't work then try the other. but I would start with "System" first).

Once this has been done, the Interface scaling options in Preferences will be able to function porperly.

Hello,

I don't think I did anything of actual importance outside of unsuccessfully uninstalling everything adobe related and reinstalling and some verbal abuse in the form of shouting at it to work, but the version number is 13.0.3.693 if that helps

I too am having this issue.

Your item #4 is deeply concerning.

"Please clean the preferences, plist/registry entries, and try again."

As you surely know better than I, cleaning the "registry" is not a trivial thing to do at all.  Could you possibly share the details on how to clean Bridge 2023 from the registry in W11?  More imporantly, does Installing a different version of Bridge require that the registry be cleaned of the prior version??

I just installd the Adobe CC Suite, and similar to many in this thread, Bridge 2023 (v13.0.3) crashed before completely launching.  After an "End Task", I tried again.  It launched the 2nd time,  but as soon as I tried to click on anything, it immediately crashed again (and by "crashed" I mean the program UI ghosted-out, and it said "Not Responding" at the top).

Judging by what I am seeing in this thread, it seems the only solution so far has been to Uninstall Bridge 2023 and install Bridge 2022 instead.

Would anyone who has had success switching to Bridge 2022 be willing to share what specific version they installed?  I don't really know how the version numbering goes, but I'm assuming that the versions numberd 12.X.X = Bridge 2022?

I too have ths problem, in successive versions of Bridge Beta. I am currently running 14.1.0.236 over up to date Win 10. I have an 18 core processor, 256 GB of ram and an NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000. I display in 8k on a Dell UP3218k screen. Each time I start Bridge it immediately freezes and puts up a message that soemthing (unspecified) has gone wrong and to please send an error report. However, it offers no means to do this and the screen is completely frozen: window cannot be closed, have to drop the app in Task Manager. The next time it generally prompts for a password and validation code, which is utetrly infuriating, but then runs as nominal. This really won't do: three successive verions of Bridge have shown  the same problem.

I also have this problem on Windows 10. Have tried most things to get it to work. 2023 worked fine at first but is just a problem now. downgrade to version 2022 which works well.

How did you manage to downgrade to 2022? I've tried everything and there's just no option for it
