batch rename

i'm just trying to rename a folder full of images in Bridge, as I do frequently when processing images from photography jobs, and strangely they wont rename. It worked a couple of days ago and nothing has changed other than me downloading this batch of images (there are over a thousand RAW files so it is a lot to manage but it has always chugged its way through them quite happily in the past with no problems). However, after loading up the images initially, I did get the dreaded message stating  my Startup disk was getting near to being full so this may be related to the issue. For this reason, I did try to rename just two files as a test and these would not rename either. I may be missing something obvious due staring at the screen for too long. Any help would be gratefully received.

    First, choose Tools > Cache and purge the cache. Then, if Batch Rename doesn't function properly with even two of your RAW files files, try it with a couple of psd or jpg files. If the problem remains, it may be time to Reset the Bridge Preferences.

    1. Start Adobe Bridge and immediately press Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) until the Reset Settings dialog box appears.
    2. Select all three options--Reset Preferences, Reset Standard Workspaces, and Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache--and then click OK.

    Fix the problem with the full Startup disk FIRST. Delete some things to free up space.
