Hello, I have an issue with Bridge 2020 that I did not have with the 2018 version.
I want to rename a photo just with a space bar. It worked before but not the 2020 version. Is there a solution?
Thank you

I'm not following. Space Bar loads the full screen preview.

I'm sorry, my question was not very detailed...
I just went to the name and cliked on it so I could rename the photo and then clik on the space bar so the name would be just an empty space.

F2 is the shortcut key to rename a file.

I want to rename it without a name... so I don`t see anything underneath. I use to rename it juste qith a spacebar tap, but it dosen't work any more. Bridge do not want me to rename a photo with juste one space bar tap.

You want the filename to just be a space character? Hit F2 then space.

I know, that`s what I was doing with the 2018 version, but it's not working with the 2020 version...

What happens when you try this? And exactly how many files are you renaming this way?

We use to rename many photos with space bar tap (the first one with one, the second one with 2 taps, etc). When I try with the 2020, there is a window opening that is saing that it's impossible to rename my photo with this caracter beaucause it's a caracter reserved by the system (sorry for the translation... I don't know if it's the right way to translate).

I just tried it on Bridge 2022 and got the error message. Renaming to <space> works in Windows Explorer. I'm thinking this is a bad idea but space is not an illegal character.

Something is a bit confusing with your plan. If you name every file with "(space).jpg," at the 2nd image, you'll get a message saying that there is already an image with that name.
In addition, ever since the beginning of Bridge, the way you advance from image to image when renaming files by hand has been the tab key. In fact, if you select the name of a file, change it, and hit the tab key, you automatically go to the next image with the name already selected.
Lastly, if the space key is OK for your needs, so should any key. So you could call each image "m," or "l," or any letter key should do. How you get past multiple copies of images with the same name in the same folder is something else you'll have to deal with.
On the other hand, you can use the "Batch Rename…" tool, which will automatically advance numbers to the images (m-01.jpg, m-02.jpg, etc.

Hi, must it be a spacebar, or several for a particular reason, such another script or program?
If it is for the ease of use, typing any letter could work, too.
If you desire a transparent character, maybe ATL+255 could work?
BTW, why don't you use a more recent version, such as 2022, or 2023 (knowing that 2023 does not have multiple windows, but gained multiple content panels)

Hi, I can`t get the new version with my employer...
ATL+255 did not work. We use to do one, two, three, etc space bar so that the photo will be rename and there is nothing under when we made an album to print it. We have to show the name of other photos so it's not possible to rename them with an other caracter.

Upgrades are free, your IT people should be able to install them for you. Make sure you keep older versions and don't remove them.
You'll probably have to manually rename files if you must have the space character.

I do rename manually the files, but I have to do it with the 2018 version and then get back to the 2020 version to continue. The main problem is I can`t rename manually my photos without a name hihi

No manually rename them in Finder/Windows Explorer.

So, you are using a print macro that does a contact sheet? Isn't there a less convoluted workflow?

I'm not an expert, but I don't see an other way to do it.

Funny enough, I can rename to <space> with a script but not in the GUI. Probably a bug.
