Bridge does not list folders in numerical order

With the release of the 2023 Bridge, my folders are no longer displayed in the correct order. My naming convention begins with the year then the job number, ie 2023.50. Previous behavior was to list these folders in numerical order in the same way Finder does. Now, if there are more than 99 folders with that sequence, the folders are displayed as 2023.01, 2023.02 [...] 2023.09, 2023.10, 2023.100. Instead of the next folder being 11, it shows 100. I've attached a screen shot showing part of my Content tab for 2018, as an example of this.

I see many programs sort sequences like yours the same way as you're seeing in Bridge 2023. If you include leading 0's in the lower digits they will sort properly no matter what program displays it.

ie: use ".001, .002, .003, .....100, .101, .102..." and the problem is avoided. If you plan for numbers higher than .999 then use .0001, .0002, ... .1000, .1001, etc..

There are free bulk renaming tools around that make inserting a "0" in front of all the 2 digit numbers a trivial chore (or "00" in front of single digit).

I never noticed the problem with Bridge as I use too many other apps with my folders which would do exaclty what you're seeing with the new version. It's the way many apps sort numbers.

I recommend "Bulk Rename Utility" on Windows which is free for personal use. I'm sure there are similar free utilites for Mac.

It would be great it Bridge's "Batch Rename" feature would work on Folders as well as Files.

I definitely appreciate the reply, and I'd add to your recommendation for Windows, Better Finder Renamer is a brilliant app for such things on the Mac side.

That said, my main frustration is that Bridge has displayed the same way for over a decade (really for as long as I've used it, so probalby 2005) and whatever they've done in 2023 is a departure from everything I've known previously.

I've attached what the same folder looks like in 2022's Bridge, not that you can't imagine it.

I will say, overall 2023 is leaps and bounds more efficient on Venture. 2022 is so slow it's nearly unusable. I'm not a fan of the Tabs per se, as I like to use trackpad gestures to see windows side by side, but that's a discussion for another thread.

Thank you for the Better Finder Renamer recommendation. I'll have a look. Being a Windows user I've not had a renamer to recommend to friends who use Mac.
