Bridge freezes up

I finally bit the bullet and upgraded yesterday to the subscription model of Photoshop, Lightroom, Bridge, etc. from CS6.  No surprise, I'm having problems.  I have a one-year-old, fast Windows 10 computer with 64GB RAM, 1.5 TB internal SSD HD, i7 processor, etc.  Everything has been updated.  And Bridge is slow and freezes up, as often as every 5-10 minutes now.  All the help forums list umpteen possible problems, but I really don't want to waste a day or two screwing with that and possibly creating new problems for my other software.  If people bought a new car and it stalled every five minutes, would people put up with that?  I'm an engineer and am pretty good with solving computer problems, but I'm tired of dealing with these type of endless problems.  Why do we put up with such shoddy performance with computers and software?  Is this what I get for my monthly subscription fee?  If anyone has any simple, bright ideas, let me know.  Otherwise I'm about to ditch CC and go back to CS6.  At least it works.

    Can you open up task manager and see what resources are taking up memory ?

    Maybe post a screen shot?

    You do not indicate what video card is the primary used card.

    Can you open up PS and select system info.

    See if your machine is using the Nvidia chip and driver or the Intel chip and driver.

    I have a feeling your system is setting the Intel chipset as the primary video output and Bridge just cannot use that chipset.

    I have seen dual chipset video output cause resource issues before.

    When Bridge is operating properly, about 27% of memory (64GB total system memory) is being used by the entire system.  Bridge (about 2.5 GB) and PS (about 3.5 GB) use more memory than the other processes by far.  Firefox and other Adobe processes use most of the rest of the 27% of memory being used.  I opened up system info in PS.  It opens a very long table where the Nvidia GPU is mentioned some.  Here it is below:

    The PS system info identifies what is in your system and available for use.

    I am going to suggest you contact tech support for the laptop you are using and ask them how you can force windows to use your Nvidia chipset and driver.

    I have a feeling you are using the Intel chipset which does not have the memory resources the the Nvidia chipset has.

    Did you try the Bridge configuration I suggested?

    Is this a laptop or desktop machine?

    What does your taskmanager app indicate for memory and CPU usage?

    What is your video card?  Is the driver up to date?

    Can you try this configuration in Bridge?

      I assume Bridge is the newest version; I downloaded it from Adobe two days ago.

      It's a desktop.

      Bridge CPU usage when Bridge is working properly is about 1-2%, but about 18% when it's frozen up.

      Memory is about 31% when Bridge is working properly and other programs such as Photoshop, Firefox, iTunes, and Thunderbird, plus background Photoshop and CC processes are running.  Bridge itself is using about 4GB out of the 64 GB available.

      There are two graphics cards:  GPU 0: Intel UHD Graphics 630 and GPU 1: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti.  Both are stock cards that came installed with the system (Dell XPS 8930).  I found one critical update that might be relevant:  Intel Management Engine Interface Driver.  I'm updating it right now.  Maybe that will help.

      My settings configuration is the same as the one you recommend above, with the exception that mine was set to High Quality instead of Embedded.  I switched mine to Embedded.

      I'll try all this and see what happens.
