We are using the most current version of Bridge on a Windows 10 laptop.
We wait until Bridge shows that it is finished indexing before we start editing images.
Our problem is that a lot of the time after we delete an image, Bridge jumps back to the first image in the folder. This is very frustrating as we then have to scroll down to find where we left off.
We are sorting by date created and have tried using both the delete button on the keyboard, as well as the delete function on the numerical keyboard--same results. It doesn't happen every time we delete an image, but does happen more often than not.
We have tried re-starting the computer, as well as purging the cache.
Any help would be appreciated!

Have you tried right-clicking the image and selecting delete? It's not as efficient as hitting the delete key, but seems to select the next file (not previous) after I do this.
In testing though, I just selected a middle file in a group and hit the delete key (Win) and it selected the next file after I agreed I wanted to delete it.

Yes, tried that thanks, unfortunately I'm still popped back to first image

For whatever reason, I'm not having that problem. But instead of going to the previous one, it goes to the next one. Hitting delete gives me the popup asking if I want to delete or reject. Then after I hit delete, there's another delete confirmation popup. Then I hit delete and it's gone and the next image in sequence is highlighted. This is from the light table workspace.

we should not have to do any workarounds .the previous version works so adobe should fix the problem.it makes no sense that they update an app and it does not work.if you have opened 3000 images from a game you do not want to be fiddling around ,the app should work

Same problem here, on Windows 11. Never had this issue until the most recent update. What's going on, Adobe?

I now have the same issue. Bridge did not always do this. Windows 10.

Same. Never had this problem until I updated to Bridge 2023.

Same here. Windows 11. The error occurred since the last update of bridge 2023 (version 13.0.0.562). Moving files from one folder to another triggers the same jumping to root folder behaviour.

I am having the same issue since the latest update. Maybe instead of saying its not a thing Adobe guys, why not address it. It is VERY annoying. Maybe more annoying than taking away the ability to keep a crop the same until you change it(why that was taken away I will never know)

Hi,
The mentioned issue is fixed in the latest patch release #13.0.1.583. Please install and confirm if that fixes the issue.
You can refer to the issues fixed in the patch at the following link https://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/fixed-issues.html

Still does it (return to first image) when I delete 6 or more images at a time. Jumps back to where it should be with right arrow key.

Hi @KPStatz I cannot replicate this. What OS are you on? (I'm on a Mac)

Hi Gary, I'm on Win 11. Doesn't do it all the time, but frequently, espec with larger numbers of files. No problem with 1-5.

What do you mean by " Jumps back to where it should be with right arrow key. "
If I have images 3-11 selected and delete them, the image that was (originally) #12 is now selected, which is what I'd expect. If image #2 is selected, that's not what I'd expect.
Using my scenario, which image is selected when you delete the others: the one before or the one after?

I have 100 in a folder, working in Filmstrip mode. I select 75-80 and delete them. Bridge then puts #81 in the large window, but the filmstrip on the bottom jumps back to #1-6. To get it back to #81 I once hit the right arrow key (could be that it goes to #82 but I'm at least in the general area).
I just gave it several tries and it's not doing it anymore. Maybe resolved itself.

I do not know the formal expected behavior here, but I'd expect that when you delete files (that are selected), after deleting the files, the next one in line would be selected if that's what you're observing, then great.
I'll keep my eyes on this, nonetheless.
