I can't figure out where I'm wrong in the settings, before it didn't do this.
before loading raw photos was smooth, now I have to wait for it to load a preview.
I set "prefer embedded" I have a fast USB-C external hard drive, a MacBook Pro M1

Hi, @Michele27770713kv7o, two quick questions: how well does it load raw previews that are ON your computer? In addition, where did the USB-C cord come from? Did it come from the drive's manufacturer, or is this one you had from another device?

The reason I'm asking these questions is that I saw a fascinating YouTube video from (of all people) Adam Savage (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AD5aAd8Oy84). The main point in the video is that some USB-C cables are intended for charging devices and NOT for data transfer (yeah, who knew).

Greetings!
Actually, on my computer the a7cii raw files don't load at all (the a7cii was recently released)
loading files on the a7iv with mac preview (space bar) is really, really slow, 7/8 sec.
The usb-c cable came out of the hard disk (WD)
the cable issue is interesting but I'm sure this isn't the problem as I previously used the same hard disk and the same cable
