Bridge not displaying thumb nails until image opened and saved in Photoshop

I recently removed and reinstalled Photoshop and Bridge to get Camera Raw to work again. Now I can not see thumbnails for the images (I see icons) UNLESS I have previously opened each image in Photoshop and saved it. Only then will I get a thumbnail image in Bridge and this must be present to be able to open the images in Camera Raw for 'group' adjustmens. ( adjust one image and make the rest in selected group like that one)  Why is Bridge unable to make thumbnails on it's own?

You could also try selecting some or all of the problematic images, right click and choose "Purge cache for selection". Bridge should then rebuild the thumbnails, previews etc.. That may help.

I'll try that again, but these images open in Photoshop, and in any other photo viewer. I have thousands of them to work with. 

As I said, if I open in Photoshop, save, without compression or changes I get a thumbnail in Bridge then which is required to open them in Carmera Raw.

Look in Bridge preferences under thumbnails. There is an option "Do not process files larger than ..." Try increasing the limit and see if that makes any difference.

I've tried that before, but just to make sure I tried it again. You didn't specify what larger for you ment, so I went with from 1000 to 3000. While I do work with very large files at times, these are (once opend and saved by Photoshop) showing 114.45 MB file size in Bridge, (Black & White images created by scanning aerial film at 21 microns).*I did close and reopen Bridge after the setting change to test it. 

So far still no thumbnails created from Bridge view.
