Bridge not showing files and folders when they are added

I'm a long time Bridge User, and for the last several months I've been fustrated by Bridge not properly updating the list of files in a folder. 
For instance I'll have a folder with 5-6 images my client needs me to retouch. If I work on the file and save a copy to the same folder a majority of the time Bridge will not update to show the new files. The same goes if I move or copy more files into a folder either via Bridge, or manually in the Finder. 
Quite often the only way I can get it to properly update is to quit and re-launch. 
Anyone else seeing this?
And even more importantly, any solutions?
BTW this has persisted across several updates etc and is the same behavior for the release as well as the Beta version of Bridge.

Need for info; sorry for all the questions. 

 

Where are these files located? Is the storage device a network or a NAS drive? Have you tried to move the file onto your computer itself and do the same symptoms occur?

 

What is your OS, and what is the release? What release of Bridge are you using?

 

Have you done the required "permissions" for your OS to access these files?

The files are located on local drives connected to my system. 
My current OS is OSX 14.3 (Sonoma)
Adobe Bridge Beta version is 15.0.0.369
Bridge Release version: 14.12.300
As far as I can tell all the appropriate permissions have been granted. 
Again, I've used Bridge for 20 some years. Only in this last year has this issue become apparent. And about 25% of the time it will work as expected, then revert and no longer show me the new/updated list of files in a given folder.

Hi @Dennis Dunbar, sorry, I didn't even notice your name, I went straight to the issue. 

 

I just recently updated to Sonoma (now at 14.7) this past week. I've not seen anything like this. I was on 13.6.1 until my update. 

 

When I first read the issue, I thought for sure you were on a Network or NAS drive, I've seen reports like this from them. Since you are on local drives, that rules that out.

 

Other than the following, I do not know what might be happening. I've not witnessed that at all myself. Nonetheless, later today, I'll be doing some Bridge-based work, and I'll keep my eye out for it. 

 

Idea #1: Purge your Cache for the folder. That's my #1 thing to try when a folder is acting dumb.

Idea #2: rebuild your Bridge's Preferences/Settings. That's my #2 thing

Idea #3: When something really dumb is taking place on my computer, I run ""OS" Cache Cleaner" from NorthernSoftworks.com. All it does is a series of basic maintenance processes that are built into the Mac anyway. Supposedly, these are supposed to be run by the Mac itself when asleep, but in my experience, my Mac must have been on a bender and slept through that process a few times. This runs them all anyway. At least once a year, it clears up an issue for me. With every new Mac OS update, the software is updated to work with the new version. They offer a small discount if you update the Cache Cleaner every year (like I do). Otherwise, they charge a $10 fee for the application. However, you do have a 10-day free trial with full capabilities. So, if it doesn't work, you're no worse off. Even though you are still on Sonoma, you will need to get the Sequoia version, as all versions are backward compatible.

 

I would run All of the functions in the Maintenance Tab, and I'd also do All of the Caches with Medium Cleaning. 

 

I've been using this app since 2007. I cannot promise that it fixes all problems or, more specifically, your issue, but even if it helps me once a year, it's worth it. Either way, try my "Ideas #1 & #2 first.

I am not seeing this particular problem. I still use Bridge 12 for production because in my testing, Bridge 14/15 is unusable for even moderate numbers of files. I was working on several thousand images at once and couldn't even scroll the content window, it was so bad with the stutters and beachballs. So you may need to be patient and wait for Bridge to process operations if you have more than a small number of images showing.

I do recommend updating macOS to either 14.7 or the new Sequoia 15.0 release.

Took a while to have a chance to test after following the steps suggested by Gary, but yes I still see the issue. 
Yesterday I was using Bridge while collecting images from retouching projects to add to my portfolio. With one window open to see the folder I was collecting images in, and another open so I could choose images to add to the collection the destination folder, with the collected images, would not reflect the new images unless I quit and restarted Bridge. 
There's gotta be some reason why this happens with both the Beta and the Release versions...

Hi, @Dennis Dunbar . How many files are we talking about? Lumigraphics pushes Bridge to limits I never do (thousands of images in a single folder), so he hits walls that I never see. I seldom have more than a couple of hundred files; typically, I have about 50-ish images in a folder.

 

Oh, and are these monster-sized files or what?

The files I was adding today were JPEGs, about 8-9Mb each, about 20 or so of these. 
But this has been consistent over the last several months. Whether I add JPEGs to a folder, or am watching a folder where I save files I'm working on, it keeps not updating, showing the current files. 
Checking in the Finder I see the files are there. And quitting/relaunching Bridge updates the display of images. And sometimes it will update a few times, then fall behind again. 
Oy. 
Bridge used to work so seamlessly...
