Bridge on M1 very very slow?

Community Beginner ,
Mar 15, 2022 Mar 15, 2022

Hi,

Just bought an M1 mac, it takes bridges ages to generate thumbnails. Giving a rating, I have to wait untill the star pops up? Its just very slow. My old Mac Pro from 2008 did it way faster?

Its very hard to work that way. I have to work around bridge to make some progress.

What is going on? Software redering is set to ON, Using M1 with 16GB RAM, Macos Monterey 12 and Bridge 12. I have a paid plan, I was expecting this to work fast and correct.

Hey, good news, Adobe Bridge Beta offers native apple silicon support, it should help fixing the speed issues. More info: https://community.adobe.com/t5/bridge-discussions/an-update-for-the-adobe-bridge-beta-is-now-available/td-p/13251390

Hi,

I heard it's because Bridge is still runing under rosetta. We're many to have the same issue.

It's really annoying that Adobe isn't taking this matter seriously...

Try turning software rendering off. Also, are these files local or on a network?

Thank you. tried your recommandation, did not help. These are local files. I also noticed; when I return to a folder, Bridge recreate the thumbnails, even when they are already cached? And some ratings did dissapear? Mostly annoying as my workflow is based on these ratings and labels. Re-installed Bridge, but that did not help. Working in my Mac with intel processor is the only work around for browsing and selecting right now. Hope this can be fixed soon

Unfortunately Adobe Bridge is not translated in Apple Silicon language yet. So it must run under Rosetta2 emulation.

I don't know why Adobe does not want to update it, we're still waiting some signals.

In the meanwhile Apple launched 3 new Sooc (M1 Pro, M1 max, M1 Ultra), and Bridge continues and will continues run under emulaton.

Come on Adobe, we pay monthly for constants software updates!

I have exactly the same problem, its sooooo. annoying!!

I bought a Macbook Pro M1 Max and Bridge in like a snail or doesn't work at all.

I spent 2 hours on the phone with Adobe tech support 3 dauys ago, trying all the fixes and the conclusion was I had to do a deep uninstall of all Adobe products from my machine, resulting in me loosing all of my presets, catalogue’s etc.

Of course that was a no go.

He said there is no record of this being an issue for other customers!?

Come on Adobe it's been 6 months, get sort it out PLEASE!!

We're at the tail end of August and this is still an issue. Adobe, please catch up! This is exactly why we pay for the subscription. For the apps to be state of the art! Bridge also crashes on me regularly.

Adobe has a beta of their new version of Bridge, but its still Intel. Hopefully the developers will get some help from the main US development team to get things up to speed since they are really, really lagging badly.

There must be something else going on there. I have the M1 Studio, and I know MANY other folks with M1, and crashing has not been an issue.

While the normal release was not crashing on me, the new Beta has a lot to speak for it. Have you tried that?

It doesn't cash all of the time. But it is enough to get mildly frustrated
with it. I often get the loading wheel while all of the new previews are
being generated. It's not fast at all.

Hi Alessandro,

Do you have your Preview and Thumbnail settings mirroring these?

Just be aware that its buggy and unfinished. I've been testing and can't yet use it in production.

Hello, Bridge 13.0.1 has native M1 suppport, you should upgrade to that version, but be informed that while it supports a modern UI with multiple content tabs, it has for the moment lost the multiple windows feature. It might be wise to keep a copy of V12 if you need that feature.
