Can you supply some details? In what way is it struggling?

Whenever I download a heap of photos, say 1000, it takes a long time to
'accumulate' them. Then, it freezes constantly and I can only rate one
photo at a time. It's very frustrating.

When I deleted a bunch of photos, the program deleted many more than I
wanted to and now I can't find them. Deleted photos have never gone into
my computer's recycling bin so where do they go?

Should I try uninstalling and reinstalling the program?

It's not uncommon for people to experience issues with folders containing large numbers of images. Is 1000 large? Well you could try working with a much smaller number to see how that affects things. Remember that Bridge has to build thumbnails and previews of all of these images and this all takes time depending upon the speed of your system hardware and the preview quality settings you have selected. 100% size preview generation in particular consumes resources.

As for deleted images, Bridge doesn't delete anything without being instructed to. Is this user error? I trust that you made a backup before doing anything else so that you are able to restore the missing images.

Thanks. It sounds like I have to walk away for 10 mins or so when I first
open up Bridge so it can build the thumbnails, then try rating?
As far as the deleted images go, I did select them but given the trouble I
was having rating others, many more than I anticipated were removed.

Hoping you can offer some advice?

Yes, better to wait until Bridge has finished generating previews etc. before proceeding.

Missing photos:

You didn't mention a backup so I assume you don't have one.  Fatal error, always backup before doing anything else. Are the images still on your camera card so you might download them a second time?

If not they must be somewhere. If they are not in the Recycling Bin, perhaps moved to a different folder.

Try a Bridge search (Edit>Find or Ctrl+F) of the parent folder (include subfolders in search criteria) of your file system if you know any filenames or perhaps search on date created using suitable date criteria.

Hope you find them! Good luck.
