Sometimes I by mistake hit Ctrl + E and my external disk from which I work dissappears.  I then have to restart my iMac. I guess there is a simpler way to get it back. Can anyone tell me?

I have no clue as to why Control-e would do that (force-eject your disk).

However, when things like that have happened to me, I power down the disk (either by switch or pull the power plug out the back depending on what's avialable, wait a few seconds and then plug it back in.

Let me know if that works for you.

Thank you for answering! I guess my solution to this problem, restarting is no big difference from unplugging.

I'm not sure I understand,

Unplugging and replugging an external hard drive is significantly faster and easier than restarting your computer. Where am I wrong?

Ok, I will test that next time. Thank you!
