Did you have the box to Delete files from the card after downloading checked in the Photo Downloader? If so, please uncheck that. I have no idea why Adobe included that, as it is a very bad idea. You should never delete files from a camera card until you have backed the files up in at least two locations.

But that does not solve your current problem.

Am I to understand that you did not transfer the files to your computer, and the card is now erased? Do you have any way to search for them, such as by date or any key to find them?

If they are nowhere to be found, the only option I can think of is to get a file-recovery program specifically for camera cards. (Yes, enough people do this that there is a special category for this type of application.) I cannot recommend one for you both because I do not know what your operating system is, and I've not used one of these in maybe 20 years. 

In the meantime, do NOT use that camera card because if you do, you risk writing over the image data, and then the images will truly be lost. You can use another camera card, just not the one that has the images you want. The way this works is that when you delete a file from a camera card or a hard drive, there are "flags" that tell the computer where a given file is located. If you delete the flag, the computer doesn't know where to look, so it's as good as the file is no longer there. These software packages look for content, not flags, and can thereby recover the data. The negative is that this process is very slow so expect this to take a while.
