Does adding Metadata Resample?

Using the "Metadata" panel in Bridge; manually typing keywords into IPTC Core section. Does this resave the image every time I add decide to add a new keyword this way. Wondering about JPEGs being resampled every time.

Are there other metadata/keywords adding methods (even outside bridge) where this is a concern?
