Feature Request: visual difference between Keywords and Filter panels

When working quickly in Bridge (speed is why I use bridge) I often accidentally apply keywords when I mean to filter, and vice versa. That is because previous to Bridge 9.X, the items on the Filter panel didn't have a box next to them, while the Keywords panel did. That way, one could quickly notice at a glance that the filter panel was active and not the keywords panel, and vice versa.

No that they look the same, accidentally "unkeywording" an image instead of simply removing the filter. Then I have to spend time and go back and find the image that I just modified so I can re-apply the keyword. It's annoying.

Option 1: Remove the box (or make it the same color as the background) next to an item listed on the Filters panel so it's easily identifiable from the Keyword panel

Option 2: Make the background of the Filter panel REVERSE, LIGHTER, or DARKER than the keywords panel.

We just need some way to at a glance differentiate between the Filter panel and the Keywords panel. Again, earlier versions of Bridge did this, but the user interface after 9.X lost this useful appearance.

    Hi, @Wes Duenkel, I have a suggestion for you: have you considered making new Workspaces: one for Keywording and one for Filtering? You can have a third for general parsing of images, and more as needed. I've always found the provided Workspaces void of value so I'm always making my own.

     

    If you need suggestions on how to do this, please ask, but fortunately, it's pretty simple to do.

    I appreciate the suggestion, but that doesn't really accomplish the goal. I need to know, without conciously knowing it, if I'm "keywording" or "filtering." Switching between workspaces doesn't give me the visual reference I need, unless the workspace is fundamentally different...which defeats the purpose of having an effective workspace.

      Hi Wes, Not all that sure what to suggest to you. If you look at all of the panels, they all have the same general "look." The ability to make one Panel green while the other is red might be interesting, but even if it is adopted, it might be a year (or years) before it would show up as that would require a major rewrite to parts of Bridge. 

       

      I suggest you look for other ways to distinguish the Panels. I suggested different Workspaces, maybe take that up one notch and have one Workspace with Keywording on the left and a different Workspace with Filtering on the right (or vice versa). 

       

      Besides, one of the axioms when working with computers that I've learned to follow over the years is "do you want to get the job done, or do you want to get the job done they way that you think it should be done."

      If you used bridge's filter and keywords panels as much as I did before version 9, you'd understand what I'm saying. The keywords panel had a box next to the keyword that you'd "check." In the filters panel, there was no box. There was an instant visual difference between keywords listed on the filter panel and on the keywords panel. After version 9, both the keywords and filter panels adopted the same appearance.

      I just want the old appearance difference back, or something else that may be easier to code. At a glance, one should be able to tell if they are "filtering" or "keywording" when working quickly, as I do.
