Question

File names truncated under preview image in Bridge on 5K iMac

I have an iMac with 5K screen and I have the Filmstrip layout selected in Bridge. When I click on a thumbnail image, the preview image shows a truncated filename if it's more than 20 characters long. This didn't happen with my old iMac which didn't have the 5K screen. Is this normal or is there a setting that will show the whole filename under the preview image? Thanks

Hi Pete,

I also have the 5k iMac and the size of things does take a bit of time to get used to.

Anyhow, yes, in your preferences, go to Interface and play with the Text size. (You want smaller text)

However, do not be too optimistic for this to work. It also depends upon how large a space you've set for your thumbnails (fewer thumbnails per row = more text space) as well as if you are using "view Content to Thumbnails" and how long your names are. Regardless, if you mouse-over a name you should be able to see a popup of the whole name. The last option, while not ideal also adds to your options.

Let me know if any of these work for you.

Hi Gary

Thanks very much for the reply. I do have text on minimum size and if I make the thumbnails bigger like you suggested I can then see the full length of the file name under the thumbnail which does help. It's just the filename under the preview image that still remains truncated no matter what size I have the thumbnails. It's not a deal breaker but I think it has something to do with the higher resolution screen.

Thanks again.
