Filter Options Missing in Bridge Panel

In the older verison of Bridge, you could filter files by file type, by rating, etc. But in 13.04.755 and also in Bridge Beta, this option is gone. When I click on the filters fly out panel, it shows all filter options checked, but only a handful show up (first screenshot). What I really want to do is filter by rating and file type, like I used to (see second screenshot). When I uncheck and check the option, it does nothing (doesn't matter if all images are slected or not).

In case of the first screenshot -- does the folder contain different file types or single file type files
similarly do some files have different ratings ?

Hi, @jdawgdesign, you pressed on the Hamburger menu (to the right of the word "Filter").

2023-09-05_08-44-17.png

What that does is to let you select the types of metadata shown in the filter menu. If it's checked, and if that attribute is in an image in the folder that is open, and if there are two different forms of that metadata, it will show up as something to select for.

For example, in your screenshot, you'll see that both Ratings and Labels are checked. If you have a folder of images, all with four star ratings, ratings will not show up. But if you have some with two stars and four stars. It will show up. This is because there has to be selection optionss of that metadata to show up for there to be choices to be made.

@Yuvan5ED0 and @gary_sc Thank you for your replies! I opened another folder that had different file types and rating and sure enough, the filters appeared. Not sure why the developers "fixed" something that wasn't broken. Now I can conitnue with my workflow that has worked over the decades. lol Thanks again, guys!

Hi, @jdawgdesign, it was never broken.

Filter has always worked with the concept that it will show differences IF there are differences to show. If there are no differences for any given metadata, it will not take the space to show only that item.

If you have a mixed folder of (say) jpg and dng files, and you only want to work with the dng files, by simply clicking (selecting) the dng checkbox, you will only see the dng files to work with. However, if you have a folder of ONLY dng files, why bother providing the option to select dng files and not select the jpg, png, eps, gif, PSD, psb, ai, pdf, mov, (etc., you get the idea) files that are not even in that folder.

Hope that helps,
