How do I make Bridge preview video as well as Davinci Resolve?

I have never been able to get Bridge to preview video worth a darn.  It either doesn't play at all or, at best, it stutters during playback, often locking up in the process.  This problem persists for anything other than low-bitrate HD footage.  Format doesn't make a difference.

I know the problem is not my machine because I can easily preview videos with no stuttering in Davinci Resolve.

How do I make Bridge preview my video files as easily as Resolve?
