Labels suddenly stopped working in Adobe Bridge 2022

This is really strange. I am a professional photographer and have beed using Macs and a centralized server for my files and teamwork for over 20 years. I am currently using an iMac Pro running Monterey and latest Photoshop and Bridge 2022.

My workflow (simplified version) is to cull images shot in my studio on one of many Macs here using Bridge and labels (green for approved, purple for "needs additional post"...etc.

Suddenly today, inexplicably, Bridge no longer allows me to apply labels to files on the server. At first it would only allow me to apply labels to jpeg files only (not tiffs or psd's etc...only jpegs...but then it quickly decided not to allow any labels to any files...period.

I tested it on my local boot drive on this computer, and everything works as usual (except it seems to insist on adding star ratings to the files as well but all stars are empty).

I tested the problem on 3 seperate Macs running Monterey and 2 running PS-2021- Mojave...Mojave Macs are fine, dont have the problem. All Monterey Macs have the problem. I have not tested it on our Windows 10 machines yet.

It seems to be isolated to PS-2022 on Monterey and only to network files...local files ok.

This is really annoying to my workflow.

Adobe techs please help...

For what it's worth, while Bridge works for you and me on NAS units or servers, its not supported by Adobe. I have lived with strange interactions for years, and wish I could offer a solution. On a Mac OS it can be worse because of the ever changing OS support.

I wish you luck, but there is at this point no supported solution available that I know of.

I had the same problem with a single image. It had a .jpg extension. I opened it, increased the quality to 12 and saved it. It created another file (now with a .jpeg extension, telling me something was screwed up with the original) and I was able to label and star the image normally.

Not sure if you already figured out the fix but I just updated adobe CC apps and the number labeling stopped working for me too. I went under the label tab, and unselected the top option (use command for shortcuts) and it works again. Hope this helps someone!

Just using the number works but in my case the labels are gone after closing and reopening Bridge...

ADOBE wake up and solve this please!

Bridge across network servers is not supported by Adobe??? Wow... How else would it be used? LOL Thanks for the sobering advice....man, I hope there is a fix for this otherwise I will have to go back to Mojave and Photoshop 2021. Not the end of the world but a PIA for sure! Its that important.

OK, there are two issues going on with Eric Gordon, rochdale al, and Marjolijn.

First how to label: If you go into your Bridge's Preferences, there is an option in the Labels and Ratings tab to turn on or off the need for the Command Key (Control on a PC) to mark a label or rating. Personally, I just want to tap the number, I do not want to do a chord.

Next, for those who lose their labels and ratings when reopening, there are two possible candidates to cause this.

1) Rebuild your Preferences:

Quit Bridge (if running). Just before clicking on Bridge in the Dock or double-clicking the application, for the Mac, press Command-Option-Shift. For PCs, press Control-Alt -Shift. Then open Bridge BUT KEEP your fingers on those keys until you see a window pop up. From the window, choose “Reset Preferences," "Entire Thumbnail Cache”, and/or "Reset Standard Workspaces.” In your case, choose "Reset Preferences."

2) Go to Tools (menu) -> Cache, and you'll see this:

Start with Purge Cache for Folder "x"

If you feel you need it, go to Manage Cache and on the bottom, Purge all local Caches.

Let us know if that solves problems.
