Hi. So basically, I imported 240 images into Adobe Bridge on Thursday, with photos broken up into several folders. I then rated photos (with stars) in each folder and made smart collections. In those smart collections, it allowed me to filter by the ratings I gave to my photos. Today, I went back into the application and about 95% of the photos are now gone! They're still in my hard drive (Mac OS Ventura, Macbook Air) but they just disappeared from Adobe Bridge. I have no idea how to fix this and really need help as this is an important project I'm working on.

Bridge is a file browser - your files aren't in it - they are on your hard drive and Bridge is simply a way of looking at your files just like the Mac Finder. You just need to browse to where your files are located using Bridge. Use the files tab.

I think there is some limit on the number of files in a single folder that Bridge can handle. I had about 400 files in a folder. As I process each picture I first add an image processed by Topaz Gigapixel AI. Then I bring the Giga output into Photoshop and save the result from passing it thru one or more plugins and save the result. Eventually, Bridge stopped showing the new files produced in Photoshop even though I can see them in Windows Explorer. If I split the folder in two, Bridge shows every picture in each folder. So clearly there is some folder size limitation.

@Martin17465356pojj try going into Preferences, Cache (tab), and increase the Cache size.
#1: you should be able to have LOTS more images than 400. However, the more you have, the more your performance will go down. However: performance is based on file size, computer performance, amount of ram, etc., etc. So that has to be something that you have test and work out for yourself.

Where were they saved to? If you are working in folder A and put them in Folder B, you will not see them.
I'm sorry, but you're not giving us enough information to help you satisfactorily. I'm doing the best I can with the information I'm parsing from your comments.
Oh, wait a minute. Try going into Tools (menu) -> Cache -> Purge cache for XX folder.
What does that do?

I think I note what is happening. For some reason, the sort order changed. If I redo the sort all is well.
