Problem with Color Display in Adobe Bridge (JPG, GIF, PNG, PSD Files)

Helo, I am experiencing a serious issue with color display in Adobe Bridge, which I have been trying to solve for a long time, but nothing has worked so far.

  • JPG and GIF files display incorrect colors on both the thumbnails and the preview (for JPG, the thumbnail and preview show incorrect colors, while for GIF the thumbnail is incorrect, but the preview is correct).
  • PNG and PSD files display colors correctly, both in the thumbnails and the preview.

Here’s what I have tried so far:

  • Cleared the cache.
  • Reset the Bridge preferences (by holding Ctrl + Shift + Alt while starting Bridge).
  • Cleared the thumbnail cache.
  • Reinstalled Bridge.
  • Tried color synchronization with Adobe Creative Cloud apps.

The issue persists, but I’ve noticed that when I right-click on a JPG file thumbnail and select “Clear Cache for Selected Item,” the thumbnail color displays correctly for a second, but the preview still shows the incorrect color. Once I switch between applications or return to Bridge, the thumbnail color is wrong again.

I also perform color synchronization in Bridge with Creative Cloud applications, but there are still differences in how colors are displayed between Photoshop and Bridge, especially for JPG and PSD files, as you can see in the attached screenshot.

Interestingly, Windows Explorer and ACDSee do not have this problem and display colors correctly in both the preview and the thumbnails.

I also noticed another issue in Lightroom Classic: the colors are different between the Library and Develop modes, which makes my work more difficult. When I export a file as JPG from Lightroom Classic, it looks fine in Bridge (matching the Library mode in Lightroom Classic). When I open this file in Photoshop (using color profile preservation), it looks the same as in Bridge, but when I save it as a JPG and rename the file, the colors in Bridge seem to come from two different color spaces.

I am not sure what to do with this, as in Lightroom Classic the color profile changes in Develop mode, and during editing in Photoshop there’s yet another color space. When I save the file as JPG and preserve the document’s color profile, it appears differently in Bridge.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Hi @IVO_G ,

Thank you for your feedback.

Could you please provide the following details to help us investigate further?

  • System configuration - Are you using a multi-monitor setup? (Please share details, if yes)
  • Could you share the sample files with which you are facing the issue?
  • Could you check the following in the color settings dialog : (Edit Menu -> Color Settings)
    • Is it syncronised or unsyncronised?
    • What is the color profile selected?
    • Does changing it solve the issue?

Please share the sample file/files on which you are observing the issue at sharewithbr@adobe.com and mention this thread.

Also the second issue is related to Lightroom Classics app. You can refer to relevant forum for this issue.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Bridge Team
