Hello. I have been using Adobe Bridge for two years now. It is a very helpful tool when in comes to working with a big batch of photos. Recently my "Batch Rename" function has stopped working the way it used to. Instead of marking my photos with a proper sequence number such as "IMG_001, IMG_002, IMG_003,etc." it renames them as "IMG_00 (1), IMG_00 (2), IMG_00 (3)." This has never happened before and I can't seem to figure out why it is doing this.. NOTE: I am running the software in Windows 10.

Stupid question.

Can you copy the files to a folder on a lo hard drive and try renaming them there.

@megcb39 â€“ Did you reset preferences etc? If the issue is with the prefs, updating will not clear the prefs:

I agree Megcb. There is an issue, all your above post applies to my experience. Apparentley we are duplicating our files, so there is an issue at least, with the files secretly duplicating . I can not find a solution.

Hi @jennifer16B8 no, and when I rename it's usually because I forgot to rename when downloading, so the name is completely different - no chance of a name duplication at all.

I am about to pull my hair out. I have made no changes or updates to Bridge, and for several weeks now, I can't batch rename properly.  In my case, I can't get anything besides "text" in the dropdown menus.  I used to rename with several combinations of "text," then "sequential number," and sometimes "text" again.  Now because it won't rename properly, it keeps the original name and adds something like (1), sequentially for all the pictures in the batch. This is a real mess!

Hi Soussia,

I can see that you're on a PC. Currently (and for some time now), there has been a dreadful bug on PCs where dropdown menus do not work. There are two options:

1) Drop back to a previous version of Bridge to one where that works,

2) Use your arrow keys to navigate the dropdown menus.

MANY are also waiting for a fix on this.

Let us know if this works for you, good luck!
