(Sonoma 14.0 - Bridge 2024 / Photoshop 2024)
Hi all,
If Bridge is closed and I drag a folder on the icon, Bridge opens normally and so does the folder. If the Bridge window is still opened, I can drag and drop any new folder onto the icon and it works perfectly. BUT, if I minimize Bridge (red button) and then drag and drop nothing else will happens. The Bridge menu will appear but no window opens no matter how long I wait. I have reset the Preferences as suggested above but the behaviour is not fixed.
Thanks.

Hi @Anon44, You've been misinformed about the functions of the Mac buttons. The Red closes the window. Apparently, without a window, Bridge is sort of froze. I can't say I ever did this back in the Bridge 12 days but maybe someone can verify that it's the same or different.
If you tap the yellow button, that DOES minimize and it should work just fine for what you want to do.
If you tap the green button, Bridge will fill up the entire screen — no menus, no nothing. To access the menus, move your mouse up to the top of the screen and the menus will drop down. You can also click on the green button once again and that will return your screen back to normal.
BTW, I've not yet entered Sonoma (OS 14), so everything I'm saying here is correct for OS 13.

Hi,
I mistyped and just meant to say that when Bridge 's window is not open (but Bridge is still open), the drag and drop method stops working. I tried it again several times, after resetting everything and the behavior still continues.

I'm having the same issue - really disrupting my workflow.
Any resolution you've found?

Please re-read the first paragraph of my message. Using Ventura, if Bridge does not have an open window, dragging folders onto the Bridge icon in the Dock does not seem to work. If you open a window, it works fine.
Also note: whichever Content tab is the frontmost is the one that will get replaced by this drag and drop on Bridge. So, be sure that the frontmost Content tab is one that you do not want to lose access to. If it is, simply select a Content tab you do not mind missing or just open a new one and have that one replaced by the drag and drop.

I understand. Bridge used to support dragging a folder onto its icon in the dock and would automatically open a new window for the dragged folder. It's worked that way for 10+ years and all the sudden with the new update it doesn't support that anymore - now you have to have an open window.
That is a TERRIBLE feature. Please Adobe - make Bridge work the way it used to!!

Understood. But I do have a question for you (and I am curious): since the solution is to have a window open while this issue is fixed, is that such a big deal? Is there something else going on where this is not a viable solution?
In the grand scheme of things, with all of the other issues that 13 & 14 have had, this is easy to do a temp fix. What am I missing?

Without going into all the details of my workflow - suffice to say it is a big deal. I've used Bridge for a very long time now and since I need to toggle between catalog folders of photos on the desktop and the bridge browser window, it's wildly prefereable to be able to close a bridge window, navigate between the finder windows to find what I need and then drag said folder icon onto bridge. The requirement to maintain an open Bridge window makes toggling back and forth between the desktop less clean and slows me down.

Hi , @jofh16644522, fair enough. Have you considered "hiding" Bridge with a window? That way, the window is out of sight but will still work When you drag a folder onto the Bridge Icon in the Dock?
Just trying to help you with alternatives to keep you at your peek efficiencies until this is fixed.

I have been opening my folders in bridge by dragging and dropping on the icon as well, for over 10 years. Let me know if you find a solution!

FYI - I just re-installed Bridge V12 - works great as it always did. Problem solved.

I have the same issue. I have to open a previous folder on Bridge just so I can drag&drop/open a different folder. So, When I drag/drop a new folder on it , it opens up the previous folder instead. I want to believe that it is a bug that needs fixing.
