Suddenly RAW NEF files from my Nikon camera are 'not the right kind of document'

Photoshop and Bridge have both suddenly decided that NEF files are 'not the right kind of document' and refuse to open them. It was working perfectly up to about 10 mins ago. Whats going on?

I have closed the apps and restarted my Windows PC and its still the same, it won't open NEF files I'm using the latest versions of both: Bridge is v14.0.1.137, PS is v25.0.0.

Any help much appreciated, I have a ton of work to do.

    Hi Everyone! I've just seen thatthere are updates available to PS, Bridge and Camera Raw, so I'm downloading and installing now. I'll get back to you with progress report when its completed.

    Okay, problem solved! There are updates available to PS v25.1, Bridge v14.0.1 and Camera Raw to v16.0.1. Updating all three cured the problem.

    That was one of the more bizzare episodes I've had in my 30+ years working with digital images. To have it suddenly stop - while I'm using it - to be told that they aren't the right kind of document is most odd.

    I hope this helps other users if they get the same problem.
