Tools > Photoshop > Batch problem

I've been experiencing issues with the Batch command. After selecting a group of files and navigating to Tools > Photoshop > Batch, the batch window sometimes fails to open. Reinstalling Photoshop and Bridge without retaining my previous settings seemed to resolve the issue initially, but the problem still occurs occasionally. I've discovered that the issue is related to the filenames of the selected files. When the Batch command doesn't work, renaming the files to something simple like 0001.jpg, 0002.jpg, 0003.jpg, etc., makes it function properly. I've tried to determine if the problem is due to the filename length, the pathname length or specific characters in the filename, but haven't had any success.

I'm content with my workaround. However, I'm curious if anyone else has encountered this problem or has any suggestions on what might be causing it. Thanks in advance.
