What will happen if I purge my cache?

I am running out of disk space in Bridge and I have already compacted my cache. What happens when you purge the cache? Am I losing important data? Honestly, I don't really understand it and I have done a lot of research..... I am worried about losing important data. Why wouldn't you want to purge your cache?

The cache is the place on your hard drive where Bridge stores the thumbnails.

Purging that cache will NOT lose important data but it won't help much either because those thumbnails will be regenerated when you revisit the folder.

When the folder you browse to contains many (hundreds or even thousands) photos this can take quite a while.

In case you didn't know, you can specify another location for the cache in case you have more than one drive; or you can consider bying an external drive...
