Bridge does not see my camera: 'no device found'

I cannot download any photos at all now; Bridge simply refuses to see my camera. I've tried with a USB cable in the camera & a card reader - nothing works. The photo downloader gives a sort of 'flash' as if it's seen the camera for about 2 seconds, then it tells me 'No Device found'. This is really desperate; what can I do to download my photos??!!! Is this yet another Mac problem? I'm using an Apple Mac with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5. My camera is a Nikon D700. It's worked fine until quite recently. Is there maybe a Bridge update I need to install?

OK, thanks, I'll try this (not much time right now).

Another thing is that the whole workspace has been re-set & I cannot get it back to how it was; I had saved it under a name, but when I click on this name it doesn't go back to how it was before. In the space on the left I always had the favorites as big thumbnails at the top, & underneath this the metadata for each photo that I highlighted. Now the metadata & favorites are all in tabs, so I cannot have them open at the same time. It'sd quite annoying. I cannot see anything in View / Window or Preferences to set this back to how it was before.

Thanks for all your help.

but when I click on this name it doesn't go back to how it was before.

Clicking itself is not enough, you either use right mouse click menu on the name or choose the triangle next to the workspace name and inhere select reset window.

There once has been a battle going on between the group of users wanting to reset the workspace with click on the name and one that did not want that to happen.

I'm still not sure what my pref would be, sometimes I change my workspace a bit and want it to keep it this way while changes workspaces, sometimes I'm annoyed it needs an extra click to reset. As always, it is very hard to please everyone

I just wiped my macbook air clean and redownloaded all adobe products. I tried importing photos from my camera on bridge and all of a sudden it isn't working. This is strange, because it's always worked in the past. I figured it was something that happened during wiping it clean but realized a different way to get the photos. Instead of clicking "Get photos from camera", just click under it at "import photos from device". For some reason, that option recognized my nikon when the original option didn't.

I have Cs6 and love it.  I am not ready to convert to  CC  at this time.  Both installed and CC Bridge are having issues.

Adobe has a real issue on their hands.  Bridge used by many of us stopped working with the update of Mac's El Capitan.  I have heard a couple of things, that Adobe is not going to fix issue and that they are working on it

More an more of us are experiencing the same issue and we need help.    I have a Canon EOS 5D and am piling up cards waiting to be downloaded into my drives and VIEWED on my laptop.

Not sure why Adobe is not jumping on this. There are many of us that have purchased photoshop CS6 that has Bridge CS4 with it along with downloader.  I am wondering if this a an effort to force all of us to convert to The Cloud.  If it is ---- how unkind to loyal users

Did you recently add El Capitan?  If so I was told that that is an issue. AND there will not be a fix made for it by Adobe.......

For me that means unloading El Capitan because the cloud service is not in my immediate plans.

Yes, that works, but it's frustrating that we no longer have the ability to change photo names.  I prefer my photos named by shoot date.

Damn!  Thought I had buggered something up, how frustrating that this is an Apple/Adobe feud. Feb 16th and still not fixed?  Really?

Hi,

Can you try 'File - > Import From Devices ' option available with latest release of Bridge 6.2.0.179.

Here is the details : https://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/using/whats-new.html#Import%20files%20from%20devices%20on%20Mac

I'm having the same problem, and called Apple support after it happened because it happened after I upgraded to El Capitan,, Apple had me try connecting to iPhoto and when it did they said not a Apple issue try contacting Adobe.

When my camera would connect to iPhoto I wondered if it would connect to other programs and it does. Photoshop and lightroom both see my camera, but I like how I have things set up in Bridge and want to keep using them. I tried looking for new drivers and nothing. I thought I might need to upgrade to CC from CS6 so I got the whole package.. and Bridge CC still doesn't see my camera.

I have a card reader somewhere my Canon 50D uses CF cards and I really don't like taking the card in and out, I bent a pin once and brought it to NJ to get it fixed. Don't want to do that again.

I hope there is a fix soon

Come on Adobe! get your finger out I might have to store pix elsewhere and work on them later in the year.. this must be such a simple fix but just had an Adobe update and was hopeful but nothing... very frustrating

I have the same problem although I tried everything proposed. It's very weird that Adobe couldn't find a solution for this issue.
