Steps to reproduce:
1. Import this GLB into AE: https://www.filemail.com/d/xyutldhxgdvybez

2. Create a new comp with it by dragging it onto the New Comp icon

3. Choose either of the Actions under the layer's Animation Options

4. Play the comp

Result: No animation

Expected: The torus should animate, as it does when viewed in any other GLB viewer (eg. Windows' 3D Viewer app or any online GLB viewer). Does AE not support animation in GLB files?

GLB is the format that supports animation. We'll take a look at the file and see what is going on.

Loading it up in the Windows Viewer, only Animation 1 seems to animate. Animation 2 seems not to move. Is that your experience too?

I think there is only one animation on it (the ripply deformation). Not sure how that other animation option crept in there.

But I've tried many other animated GLBs, and I cannot get any to animate in AE.

You could try this one https://t.co/WKmYBsJYLM

It's the one we did our announcement of the feature with. I know that one works.

Indeed - I've just imported it and that T-rex model does work exceptionally well!

I wonder what I'm doing wrong during the export process from Blender > GLB > AE?

Hello @jenkmeister ,

From talking to people on the Blender forum, apparently "the GLB format does not directly support vertex animation (which is what you’re using in the displace modifier) that is done with the Alembic format. However, GLB does support Shape keys, so if you export the animation with those then the displacement animation will work."

https://blenderartists.org/t/glb-gltf-export-cant-bake-modifiers/1527614

Don't know if that's any help?

There was talk, some time ago, of AE supporting Alembic file format...any news on that front yet?

Thanks,

Paul
